Budget Forecast Estimate

This form is used to produce an estimate of the cost of your scheduled supports and how they fit in with your plan funding and funding periods. The summary produced is for guidance only and any fluctuations in the frequency of your supports, or the cost of those supports will decrease the accuracy of this estimate.

You will need
  1. Your remaining budget for one support category. Find it in the my NDIS app, the NDIS portal, or your plan manager.
  2. Your plan end date, and your funding period dates if your plan has them.
  3. The hours of support you get now, or the hours you would like.
1. Your plan

Core funding is flexible, so you can combine all four Core categories and enter the total Core balance. Capacity Building and Capital categories can't be combined, so use one at a time, for example Capacity Building: 15 Improved Daily Living for therapy. Example figures are filled in; replace them with yours.

2. Funding periods

Many newer NDIS plans release money in funding periods, often every three months. You can only spend what has been released so far.

3. Am I on track? (optional)

Compares how much of this period's money is used with how much of the period has passed. When you enter the start date, the period end date in section 2 is filled in using the funding period length.

4. Other providers using this budget (optional)

If another provider is paid from the same category, their costs come out of the same money.

5. About your support workers

These settings change the support worker rates. They only show for Core budgets. Not sure? Leave these as they are, or check your service agreement.

6. Your scheduled supports

Enter the hours you get now, or the hours you'd like, and choose how often: each week, fortnight, month or school term, or once only. Everything is converted to a weekly cost (a month is counted as 4.35 weeks). For "Per school term", enter the total hours in each term (for example, 3 sessions of 1 hour = 3) and choose your state in section 1. School holidays are not charged. Use Schedule under any line to set start and end dates, run it only during school terms, or pick which terms (for example Terms 1 and 3 in 2027). Cost / week is the average across the rest of the plan. The calculator keeps the same mix of days and tells you what your budget can cover.

Group activities

Enter each group activity, the ratio of workers to participants, and the 1:1 hourly rate. The calculator works out the most that can be charged to each participant: 1:1 rate × workers ÷ participants. Rates are used as entered; the location and support worker settings don't change them.

Therapy rates. Therapy rates are the same any day of the week; only the location setting in section 1 changes them. Therapist travel is charged at half the therapy rate, and only if your service agreement says so. It adds to the cost but is not counted as support hours.
Public holidays and the Other line. Public holidays only happen a few times a year, so enter an average. For example, 8 hours on each of 6 public holidays is 48 hours a year: enter 4 hours, Monthly. Use the Other line for any support with its own price: type a name, the hours, how often, and the hourly rate exactly as your service agreement shows it. The location setting in section 1 and the support worker settings are not applied to the Other line.
Travel and other charges. Travel, and work done when you're not there (like report writing), can only be charged if your service agreement says so. Check your agreement for what applies to you.
Hourly rates used (edit these if your provider charges less)

These are the maximum prices set by the NDIS. Your provider may charge less. If so, change the numbers here to match your service agreement. Any rate you change is highlighted, and every calculation updates straight away.
